Moab 24 Hour Challenge Oct. 2010

The course!

We raced over the 9th & 10th of October in the Moab 24 hour challenge. This race is a challenge, especially riding throughout the night on sandstone and sand. We had no serious crashes and completed 15 laps throughout the race. I started the race with a classic LeMans start which was difficult sprinting in bike shoes.

Xterra Nationals Sept. 2010 (Olympic Distance)

This year I qualified for the Xterra National Championship which is held at Snowbasin Ski Resort. I enjoyed the race due to no flat tires like in 2009 when I got 3 flats due to the same thorn in my tire.. They changed the mountain bike towards the top of the course which was nice, some of those final hill climbs are pretty strenuous. I finished in 11th place in my age group, 8th place overall in the Mountain Division, and 21st place overall in the Nation in my age group for the 2010 season. I have made plans and goals for the 2011 season, it should be a great season.

Rockwell Relay September 2010

In Sept. we did the Rockwell Relay, the mountain bike race consisted of a 4 man team from Snowbasin to Monte Cristo. (Team Michael Muhlestein, Chris Castelli, Dane Money, Matt Day) The race was a lot of fun even though we ran into a few mechanic problems. We ended up in 3rd place riding 115 miles, just shy of 12 hours.

Lake Tahoe Xterra Triathlon (Olympic Distance)

In August I completed the Xterra Lake Tahoe, probably my favorite of the series. This race has so much Mountain Bike climbing it is insane. I felt real good about the race minus the 3 foot waves we had to swim in. Abbie and I had a great time in Lake Tahoe, we both have plans to race in 2011.

Those waves were huge!
Best Mountain Biking Trail by far...
