May 2009 Xterra West Cup Championship (Olympic Distance)

In May of 2009 I did the Xterra West Cup Championship which was located in Lake Las Vegas. This year I dedicated myself to do the full Olympic size to compete in the point series (1 mile swim, 22 mile mtn. bike, 10K trail run). Chris drove down and raced with me, the race was difficult with loose rocks and steep climbs. I ended up in 3rd place in my age group.

2008 Races

In 2008 I signed up for an Xterra Off-Road Triathlon which was held at Snowbasin Ski Resort, I did the race with my Brother-in-law. We both signed up for the Sport distance which is half the Olympic size. I loved the atmosphere of the race which led me to sign up for the Lake Tahoe Xterra which was in the fall of 2008. They cancelled the swim due to five foot swells on Lake Tahoe and by the time we got to the top of the mountain biking section the weather dropped to around 30 degrees with a thin layer of snow. I entered this race with Chris Castelli, and Weston Ridd. This was a perfect way to end the season eager to start 2009.

The Starting Line!

I love to hear the gun go off every time I start a race. I can't describe the drive it gives me to compete, and finish. Abbie and I were talking about the races we have done and want to compile a history of our hobby. Feel free to stop on by anytime you want.
